Metabolism Boosters
Eat a good Breakfast - The heartier the better! Everyday! Think protein and health carbs - egg, greek yogurt, steel cut oats, whole grain toast, peanut butter, berries.
Brew up some green tea - The ingredient ECGC promotes fat burning. Steep it for 3 minutes, drink it hot and drink it often. Try for 3-5 cups per day....over a year that could mean a 5 pound weight loss.
Grab some Metal - IRON You need iron to carry O2 through your body and your monthly period can screw that up and then your energy tanks. Stock up on iron fortified cereals, beans, leafy greens - spinach, kale, broccoli, bok choy.
Mix things up with exercise intervals - Bursts of speed in your cardio can stimulate fat burners. 20 mins of cardio with 10 "can't talk sprints" over that 20 mins is far more effective to melt fat than 40 minutes of cardio in the zone. Hint - that is why we do 30 sec cardio intervals in my bootcamps!!!
GO TO BED EARLY - SLEEP!!!!! Having 8-9 hours of sleep every night resets our hormone levels - cortisol, grehlin, Estrogen etc - that then makes our bodies "better butter burners". Turn out the ligths, turn off the TV & computer. Get some SLEEP!!!

Summer Metabolism Muffin top blasters
Here are some great summer Metabolism Boosters I have gleaned from Dr. OZ. Check out this link for more details - Dr. OZ

Konjac Root Fiber - A root that helps you feel full! Take 30 minutes prior to eating and drink a big glass of water. Available at Costco under the trade name PGX
Shirataki Noodles - This incredible noodle is high in fiber and has no calories and tastes great...move over pasta!!! Available at health food stores.
L-Carnitine - Gives you energy and it takes fat from your body and pulls it into the cells to be used as energy. Take on an empty stomach (500 mg twice / day). Add Vitamin C for best results
White Kidney Bean Extract - Great for carb junkies! This is not a green light to eat bad!! But on that backyard BBQ party day, take this extract prior to a meal that carbs will be eaten at. The Carbs will not be broken down to sugars and will pass through your body. Available at health food stores.
Raspberry Ketone - This is from Red Raspberries and helps your body burn off fat, especially if you are working out. I have not been able to source this product in Canada yet (available in US or online). Try adding a bowl of raspberries to every meal!!
8 hours of Sleep nightly - Your body makes more GHRELIN (the hormone that says GO EAT MORE), your body makes less LEPTIN (the hormone that says STOP I'm FULL) and makes more CORTISOL (which BOOSTS YOUR APPETITE especially for bad carbs) when you are SLEEP DEPRIVED!
SUMMER FAT FOOD BURNERS
Flax seed (Phyto estrogens)
Watermelon (Argenine)
Chia seeds (High in protein, omega 3, ALA and fiber - sprinkle in yogurt, salad etc)
Low Fat Greek Yogurt (Decreases fat absorbed from other foods)
Raspberries
Blueberries (Polyphenols)
Pine nuts & Pistachio (omega 6 & poly - unsaturated fat helps satiety)
Balsamic Vinegar & Olive oil dressing
Romano Beans (boost testosterone)
Jicama root (50 calories / cup, high in Vitamin C & 6 grams fiber)
- shred raw and add to homemade salsa'a and salads
Apples (soluble fiber that reduces amount of sugar absorbed into the blood stream)
